A smash hit in the 1980s, Megiddo captured the imaginations of strategy game enthusiasts with its engaging gameplay and epic scope. This out-of-print gem has been sought after by collectors for decades, making this a truly rare opportunity.
What is Megiddo?
Megiddo is an abstract strategy game for 2 or 3 players. Each player is attempting to create a connected line of six gems in a straight, circular, or spiral pattern. The unique configuration of the 36-point game board provides more challenges than you might think at first glance.
Megiddo is played on a round board consisting of six rings connected by six spokes. Each player in turn places a gem stone on one of the intersections in an attempt to get six pieces in a row in one of several configurations. A row of six could be either along a radial spoke, around a ring, or most interestingly, in a spiral from innermost to outermost rings. A win could also be achieved by capturing enough pairs of opposing pieces by bracketing them on either side.
Megiddo won the 1986 "Best New Game" at the National Toy and Hobby Fair in London, the New York International Toy Fair, and the Paris Exposition, was cited in the Games Magazine Top 100, and included in the Mind Sports Olympiad in 1997.
